Winnie the dog

Winnie visits school

Winnie is a dog who visits our school each week. She is two and a half years old and has been visiting St Peter’s since she was a puppy. She belongs to Mrs Holliday and knows the children and staff in school very well. She is a very friendly dog and is a cockapoo breed which are ideal dogs for children as they do not malt any fur so they are less likely to cause any allergic reactions in humans. If you or your child is allergic to dogs please let school know so that we can keep Winnie away from you.

When Winnie is in school you will see her in the playground with Mrs Holliday before and after school. Children are able to stroke her and give her treats. This is supervised carefully and children who do not wish to go near her have plenty of space to stay away. She will always be on a lead and pupils will be carefully supervised around her and taught how to stroke her and give her a treat.
